Kate joined our team in 2023 as a litigation lawyer.
Kate started practicing in 2022 and worked previously in a Christchurch-based firm, where she gained experience in property matters such as residential and commercial conveyancing and worked quite closely with first-home buyers. Outside of work she helped develop a Pasifika First Home Buyer Community, where alongside a team of agents, mortgage brokers and finance coaches she delivered monthly presentations providing advice and supporting the Pasifika community along their first-home buyer journey.
During her practice, her experience extended to assisting on relationship property matters, and aspects of litigation such as commercial disputes, build contract disputes and separation proceedings.
Kate is very keen to explore litigation further and saw joining Canterbury Legal as an opportunity to build experience in this area of law. Kate’s focus is ensuring her clients feel supported and effectively assisted when dealing with complex disputes and stressful matters. She loves to problem solve and develop creative solutions to legal issues.
Kate's background
Kate grew up in Wellington but made the move to Christchurch to study at the University of Canterbury. In 2021 she graduated with a double degree in Law and Criminal Justice before being admitted as a Barrister and Solicitor of the High Court in 2022.
In her spare time, she enjoys staying active whether it be playing netball, going to the gym, or going on one of Christchurch’s many scenic walks with her friends. Kate finds it important to spend time with friends and in her weekends looks forward to exploring the new restaurants and bars (especially), that continue to pop up around Christchurch.
